Bar/Bat Mitzvah Ceremonies
I work with Bar Mitzvah students and their families to make this milestone both meaningful and empowering. My goal is not only to prepare students for the bimah, but to help them develop a genuine connection to Jewish tradition that will stay with them long after the big day.
I hold deep respect for the generations who built our traditions with care, intention, and thoughtful debate. Judaism has always grown through questions, interpretation, and even disagreement, and I believe that spirit is essential to an authentic Bar Mitzvah experience. In my teaching, I encourage curiosity and critical thinking—inviting students to ask questions, challenge ideas, and engage deeply with what they are learning.
Through this process, students gain a strong foundation in the core ideas of our laws, mitzvot, and traditions, while also learning that Judaism is a living tradition—one that grows and adapts with each new generation. I encourage students to broaden their perspectives by comparing cultures and ideas, thereby helping them become independent thinkers who feel confident, capable, and connected.
A Bar Mitzvah is not just a ceremony; it is a step into Jewish adulthood. My role is to guide students through that transition with intention, respect, and joy—guiding them stand proudly in tradition while feeling empowered to carry it forward in their own way.

A comprehensive, supportive experience designed to build not just skills but also confidence, meaning, and pride in the Bar/Bat Mitzvah journey.
Includes
Working with child and family to create a personalized service
One introduction session with family to discuss vision and traditions to incorporate into event.
Two follow up sessions with child and parents to discuss progress and event details
25 (50 min) sessions with child to work on:
Deep understanding of Torah portion, with discussions on how the portion relates to current events and the child’s life
Haftarah blessings and key prayers learned and understood in context, so students understand how each fits into the service
Pronunciation and fluency support
Discussing and help with writing the haftorah speech
Lead short Friday Night prayers the weekend of Bar Mitzvah
Bar Mitzvah service including supply of a Torah
Teen who is not able to read Hebrew and would benefit from extra support and practice through the Bar Mitzvah process
Teen who is interested in learning meaning of Bar Mitzvah ceremony, Jewish history and traditions, and gaining a deeper understanding of their Torah portion
